Short travel day to another place we enjoy in Texas. And meeting up with friends again

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Our last morning here and a decent night's sleep cannot not imagine how I slept in until 5:30 this morning. But we are in no rush today. Just got some walkabouts, coffees and computing done, puttered around for a while secure the coach and headed on down the road about 9.45. Only 45 miles to go taking some wonderful Texas back roads to Glen Rose Texas.
last walkabout here in Whitney
moving on down the road; sirius
Tunes blasting and enjoying the scenery
farmer discing his fields ready to plant
an awesome drive only saw 3-4 vehicles all morning
Before we know into Glen Rose a wonderful small Texas town  that is so very interesting, we really love it here.
this the  place
Passing by the Big Rocks Park
a wonderful place on the river to explore
The is a park that we love and have been to many times in the past, last time here was 4 years ago with our good friends Rob and Pat Aljoe. So much that we love about the park and the area is really nice to come back again. Another Membership park this one Coast To Coast cost us $10.00 a night with full hookups plus very good free wifi now that is a nice bonus! Tres Rios is Spanish for Three Rivers where the Brazos River, Paluxy River and Squaw creek come together.
This be the place, nice to be back again
We checked in at 11 am and asked if Renea and Lamar were here, What a bonus Renea was in her office and came out the greet us. We first met them in 2006 at Abita Springs Louisiana, our very first time in the south for the winter. We had just pulled in and set up and she drove by saying a tornado warning come to the clubhouse, now ! Ok our first experience with this, stowed our awning and heading to the clubhouse, met a lot of people our first night here. She took us on a bunch of tag-alongs and we became friends. Always keeping in touch, met up again in Styx River Alabama, back at Abita Springs and here at Tres Rios Texas what an amazing friendly couple they are and do an awesome job managing these parks.

wonderful large pull through campsites here
After setting up and a light lunch I did a nice walkabout this park. Very busy with lots of families and people outside, lotsa kids, spring break after all.So nice to  see everyone outside and enjoying this wonderful weather. The afternoon here was great of course shorts on and was 75 F in the shade , perfect weather.

Music hall but no Live music this week

the river bed three rivers meet here
wonderful trails that I will explore again
lots of nice cabins to rent as well
enjoying reading outside and this weather is wondetful
They have restaurant here open on the weekends the Lone Wolf Lodge, quick easy meals if you wish.
A bit later I got some baby back ribs ready for our Weber Q ,roasted  in sauerkraut  to make them tender and tasty fall of the bone. For the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
just to glaze them with sauce on the grill mat
oh yeah they tasty and tender
After supper I took the garbage to the dumpster and watched a guy racing his toy up and down the roads, Wow it is fast, I asked him he said 38 mph.
nice toy but very expensive
While out I did manage a sunset through the trees over the river, best we can do here.
across the river through the trees
very nice

Still able to sit outside and post this blog 8 pm and a decent 65 f yes I have my sweater and shorts on but why not? I can, right.
Apparently this tree I posted yesterday is a Bradford Pear tree. Thanks to Kay and Red Smith who live  in East Texas. We met them at Bloggerfest in Quartzsite.

  1. That looks like a very nice park with a lot of options for the campers. With three rivers, I am sure there is canoeing and kayaking and maybe even a little fishing??

  7. I know I would love to walk those trails along the river with our dogs. Even those big rocks by the river would call my name to climb on and around them. Think we put it on our list for places to visit.

Nice to be able to sit outside longer in the evenings again even if a sweater is required, it's not a parka. We'll take it.
