Halloween weekend here, great weather and too much fun!

Where are we today ?

Pretty mild last night about 45f and a perfect warm morning for this time of year, Lotsa sunshine too. Morning walkabouts the resort checking out some of the Halloween decorations. This weekend is extremely busy here, campground is full. Lots of children, families and parties, everyone is in a festive mood here, so nice to see.
I finished making my chicken noodle soup from last nights chicken on the Q and we enjoyed a hearty bowl of it for lunch.
Hearty homemade chicken noodle soup
Then I got to work to clean all our inside windows, much nicer when we are travelling again. While I did this the women checked out the craft sale at the clubhouse.
a few interesting crafts but nothing we need.
After this I took a tour around the resort to snap a few pictures of sites that were decorated for Halloween.
Adults and children get in the spirit and we all have a lot of fun. There was 16-20 people gathered at Bill and Barb's site and everyone brought food for us to graze on all afternoon as we socialized.
Did we have a feast of endless food BBQ hamburgers, spaghetti and meatballs, huge pot of chili, delicious corn chowder, Texas Caviar, crackers and many cheeses even 3-4 and 5 ear old Canadian cheddar, Kielbossa, chips , dips, chicken wing dip, pies, cookies, apples slices and caramel dip, orange slices marinated in brown sugar and Tequila and more.... The food was endless, nobody needed to go hungry today.

Then at 2:30 they began hay rides around the park.

too much fun
Our site site got together and we handed out candies for the children that were trick or treating around the park, from 4:30 till 6:30. They made out good here six sites all in one stop! Suzie ran out of candies in 35 minutes, we only had enough for 185 kids, a she gave out only one per child, the other ladies had run out before 6 o'clock as well.
A lot of sites also had adult treats such as jello shooters, pudding shots, wine, whiskey shots, liqueurs and many variations of cider. Our group had the orange slices marinated in Tequila and brown sugar. Something for everybody.
pretty tasty orange slices with a kick
The lineups of adults and children seemed to never stop, what an awesome day and perfect weather for it too. Lots of fun costumes as well.
now relaxing a bit and still nimbling
then another huge campfire, on a very mild evening
Even after all the food we had today, some of them could not resist making s'mores and spider dogs over the nice fir with hot coals.
spider dogs
the carved pumpkins all lit up too
Now this was a fantastic Halloween celebration with friends, in a nice campground, lots fun times with friends, food and campfire and great conversation.
We called it a night around 9 o'clock , has been a long day.
Thanks again for stopping by, and hope you enjoy some wonderful weather today as well.

  4. Man! They go all out. Are these all kids from the camp? Or do they come in from the neighbourhood?

    1. It has always been a great day here. Mostly from the camp, but some local kids do come in as well. Some friends and relatives of the campers.

  5. What wonderful fun that would be. It's great that the weather stayed nice so everyone could have a good time. Our Halloween celebration was inside and the weather as nasty as it could be outside.

    1. I did not make it but is so simple. Layer orange slices in a container, sprinkler each layer with brown sugar and Tequila, until you have a full container do as much as you want. Add more Tequila, as much as you need. This large container took almost a whole 26 oz bottle. Cover a refrigerate overnight or longer. Set them out for guests and munch away, (Vitamin C right?) but be careful it sneaks up on you.

  7. "fantastic Halloween celebration" seems to sum it up. This group went all out and sitting by the fire with good food and friends can't be beat.

  8. great getting into the spirit of Halloween, one of my very favorite holidays. I'm getting ready for a local party, with costumes, on Tuesday. Today I'm getting organized to make a six layer chocolate caramel cake that I'll decorate with ghoulish spiders, etc. Happy Halloween!
