Our last day in Benson AZ.

Thanks for joining us on our journey of North America
in our Holiday Rambler, since August 2006

Where are we today ?

Today is our last day here and we are gonna miss Benson until next fall (the good Lord willing we will be back.) We really enjoy the small resort, friendly people, friendly town, the mountains, good weather and desert scenery.

Morning coffees, computing and walkabouts all is good. Then we are off to the two book stores in town with our lists and 16 books to exchange. That's how many we have read since we left Quartzsite 5 weeks ago. Get pretty good deals, the first store took most of our books so we picked up a few here, then around the corner to Mary's who took the rest and we picked up a few more coming back home with another 16 books for $20.00 so we are good to go for a bit more.
Suzie looking for books
Now back home to pack up a few things our patio mat, BBQ, dump our sewage and stow our hoses, check tire pressures etc.. so we don't have to do that in the morning when it could be cooler.

Now we can get the chairs out, find a sunny spot out of the wind (about 20 mph) and enjoy our books and great weather.
less wind here
lovely blue skies with a few fluffy clouds
Another reason we enjoy coming here is that Junction Express is right at the edge of the campground and we just cannot stay here without a feast of their excellent Broaster chicken. (much better than that Kentucky stuff). The secret is to get it cooked fresh so at 3:30 (convenient stopping spot in my book) I walked over to place our order for 5:30  supper. Back home to read some more, chat with Suzie and a nice cool beverage. Now back at 5:30 to pick up supper, piping hot with some fries and coleslaw.

lightly breaded, moist, hot and crispy
Now that we had our fried chicken feast we can say that we have done what we wanted here in Benson, time to hit the road. Relax for a bit this evening and on the road in the morning towards El Paso Texas for an overnight stop.

  5. TnT:

We both love reading and try to make time whenever we can. Between cooking , cleaning, polishing and sightseeing just love to relax with a book.
