Thur. June 23rd Rainy day stuff..

Join us as we travel North America in our
Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Now we are having rain, supposed to rain all day but is warm so no big deal we have stuff to do that we have been saving for a rainy day. Coffees and computing for a bit the the rain let up, so I went for a walkabout the resort. I ended up chatting at the clubhouse for a bit then the rains began again. Very heavy, very loud with flowing rivers of mud and water along the campground roads.
lotsa rain

After the rains came down for about 45 minutes I borrowed an umbrella to get home, get ours and return the borrowed one, only to find out that the rain finally stopped, figures. The sun came out then so I went to the store for a few items. While shopping the cashier came to tell me that it was raining again and I had left my car window open. Gotta love small town friendliness.

Back home a bit more research and computing then after lunch, my rainy day project. A few weeks ago a cable on my Lazy boy recliner had broken, not allowing it to recline. Now a none reclining recliner is a major inconvenience as most men can vouch for. I had gotten the cable to work with a pair of vise grips and ordered the part from Brad and Hall in Elkhart Indiana which arrived in the mail a week or so ago.

cable goes here
Now to repair this I have to unbolt the recliner from the floor and flip it over. Wow is it ever heavy. With this done I confirmed that the right cable was sent. Now with a little fiddling  around I got it installed and works just wonderful. If the old cable was the original it was 12 years old, not too bad for a chair that gets so much use.
cable installed and working
back in business
Now with this chore done the sun  conveniently came out for a bit so we took our books outside to read for a while. Then as it began to look like rain again I a made a large pan of garlic sausage lasagna, a tossed salad and garlic bread for supper.

Its thursday, supper is done and still raining so we grabbed our umbrellas and down to the clubhouse for darts. Six teams playing  tonight but unlike last week we did not win anything tonight but we sure had fun. In fact Suzie's team and mine were in the playoffs for third place and neither one of us placed third. No to call it retire after a great rainy day.

  1. Good job with the repair job. I was impressed when I read how you checked to see if it was the correct cable before you started! As to the weight, if 'they' put in lighter furniture when they built RV's it would certainly help with the overall fuel bill.

I had to check the cable because that chair alone has three different cable sizes. Lighter would be nice, but maybe the chair construction needs to meet crash standards, it sure is well built, much heavier than one we had in our house.

  3. Sounds like Ontario is getting a bit of rain. Ottawa area had some heavy rain too, guess it will be coming our way.

    Nice job on the recliner.
